Shane attained his Bachelor of Business degree in 1999 and later attained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Newcastle in 2002. In 2004 he was advanced to the status of Certified Practising Accountant through CPA Australia.

Shane has over 15 years of experience working in accounting and taxation including 5 years working as a senior accountant for a larger accounting firm. Through his years of experience, training and interactions with clients, Shane developed the belief that it is essential to work closely with clients to ensure the best possible taxation and accounting outcomes. Shane's vision and commitment to outstanding client service led to the establishment of the firm Shane McGrath Accountant.
